Having created commercial metal artworks for over 60 years, I, of course, had to build a major
chess set. It took seven years to collect six pairs of matching large brass and stainless steel anchors.
The matching 16 cleats (pawns) just took a trip to the local hardware store. The board is made
with 3/4-inch waterproof plywood overlayed with shaped Magonhay, 64 black and white 4-inch tiles
with copper inlay. This set is awe-inspiring. The pieces are pretty heavy and a pleasure to move
around the table. This chess set is awe-inspiring.
