These crossbars are compatible with Thule Hullavator hydraulic lift assist rack.

The Thule Fit Kit bolts into your roof under the tiny removable panels in the roof of your 2008-2013 Subaru Forester.
If you want to use these crossbars with another model of car then you'll need to purchase a different Thule Fit Kit that fits that car.
Consult Thule's website or talk to the awesome folks in the rack department at REI Bellingham to find the correct fit.
