The batteries are five years old. They sat on a shelf for five years before I installed them, so they've never been cycled, but . . . they're five years old.
This is a used, tested, APC UPS. Washington State surplus.
You can see this unit in operation prior to purchasing. It operates correctly, with one exception: it always complains about faulty site wiring. It thinks it's plugged into an ungrounded outlet or that he Hot & Neutral lines are reversed. I ignore its warning, it works fine other than that spurious message.
I do not know how much life the "new" batteries have left, but it passes the power-on Self Test fine. I have (good quality) aftermarket batteries installed -- mfg'd 2021. The genuine APC RBC7 battery pack is rather expensive but is of excellent quality. In my (several) UPSs I instead run (2) CSB GP-12170NB 12V 17Ah batteries ($152 for (2) including shipping) but there are much cheaper RBC7 replacements available, eg https://batterysharks.com/bs-rbc7-cartridge.html
The audible alarm that goes off when supply power is cut can be silenced using the free Windows Powerchute software (I think) and a standard Type B UPS cable. I use Linux and use the apcupsd package instead. There are all kinds of configuration options, many of which can be configured via the front panel . . . just not permanent silence, lol.
