Selling my Bassmods K535 5-string — a custom-ordered J-style bass that punches way above its price point. This isn’t your average off-the-shelf instrument. It was built to perform, with hand-selected components and a tone that easily competes with boutique builds twice the cost.
It’s finished in a gorgeous custom Lake Placid Blue with a matching headstock, giving it that stage-ready vibe that grabs attention without being flashy. The Hipshot A-style bridge, clean satin neck finish, and Nordstrand pickups round out the pro-level build.
The satin neck is smooth, fast, and super playable. If you like a neck that doesn’t slow you down, this one will feel like home. The 35" scale keeps the low B tight and articulate, but it still balances well when you're standing. It weighs about 10.5 lbs — solid and resonant without being too heavy.
This thing growls. The Nordstrand Big Singles give you punch, clarity, and that J-style snarl when you dig in. The active 3-band preamp gives you a ton of flexibility — dial in anything from tight slap tones to deep, warm fingerstyle lines. It’s a modern, aggressive-sounding bass that still knows how to sit in a mix.
• Custom finish w/ matching headstock
• Nordstrand Big Singles pickups
• Active 3-band EQ (not confirmed Aguilar, but sounds fantastic)
• Hipshot A-style bridge
• Satin maple neck w/ Rosewood fingerboard, abalone dot inlays
• 35” scale length
• Approx. 10.5 lbs
• 5-string with a tight low B
• Minor cosmetic quirks in the finish — nothing that affects playability or tone
Bonus:
I’m including a Mono dual-bass gig bag. If you know Mono, you know this is one of the best gig bags on the market — rugged, protective, and worth a few hundred bucks by itself.
Thinning the herd and focusing on a couple main instruments. This one’s a fantastic player and deserves more use than I’m giving it right now.
