This is a factory brand new wood model kit. Box is still factory sealed, never opened. I'm never going to get around to building this kit.
If you've been wanting to build this "life project" kit, but wavered at the cost, then this is absolutely the best deal you're ever going to get. All things considered, this is about a $1200 value for the $250 I am wanting to sell this new, factory unopened kit for. A whole bunch of stuff you're going to need for this kit is included in the purchase.
I encourage you to visit the Model Expo link provided here to view the current price and other specifics about this model. This is your best chance, from me.
Currently on sale for $559.99 at Model Expo. https://modelexpo-online.com/Model-Shipways-USS-CONSTITUTION-48-LONG-176-SCALE-_p_1013.html
It normally hovers around $600. Sales don't last very long.
My offering includes: I estimate all the items listed below are about $500 in value !!! At least.
1) All the paints you will need, at least $200 in paints. 34 paints in total. The paints for the Constitution and a bunch more for any custom color changes, or for other wood ships you might have. If you're serious about building this, then certainly you have other projects that require paints.
2) Some already assembled ship modeling tools, like a keel clamp large enough to hold your model, and is glued to a 1/4" steel base for stability, which also includes a bulkhead alignment clamping kit (all this is already assembled). Your bulkheads will all be parallel. Your hull construction phase will be secure--your model will not fall over due to weight !!! A plank bending tool. A water line marking tool (not assembled yet). Some picks and one set of rigging tools. Over $100 of stuff here.
3) The book Anatomy Of The Ship, The 44-Gun Frigate USS CONSTITUTION "Old Ironsides". As well as the construction plans on CD containing a PDF file on virtually any aspect of the ship designs. Both these items were purchased from the museum website. A fantastic resource of detailed plans of the real ship. If you're wanting to make some customizations over the normal kit plans, then these will give what you need to make authentic parts.
4) Over $100 in books covering topics like rigging and knots used at the time of these ships, and general model ship building. These books are new and practically unopened. The bindings are factory stiff.
5) And a special additional item with detailed instructions on building this specific kit by a pro builder.
By the time you come pick up all this I might find more stuff to simply give you to help you build the kit. Heck, I won't be needing it anymore!
