We are hiring at Matia Kitchen, a farm to table restaurant and bar located on Orcas Island. Our team is small, dynamic, friendly, and hard working. We use extremely local product from San Juan and Skagit county every day and our constantly changing menu reflects shifts throughout the calendar year. Cooks here are well versed at a variety of styles of cooking, including (but not limited to) charcoal grilling, hearth oven cookery, frying, braising, fermentation, steaming, pastry, and baking - to name a few.
We are looking for experienced cooks, particularly those with line cook experience pertaining to fish and meat cookery/butchery. Leadership and people skills are absolutely a plus. Above all we are looking for someone who is open minded, able to gel with our busy (open) kitchen flow, and work with a wide reaching variety of ingredients and techniques. It should be noted that we are on an island and can in some rare instances help secure housing, but that is not always a guarantee. Orcas Island is a beautiful and fulfilling place to live, but not without its challenges in regards to housing, resources, etc., so applicants should keep that in mind. Thanks for your time
