This clock hadn't been plugged in for at least three decades, but I plugged it in and it's been keeping time this week. The Westminster chimes operate (they can be turned off). It is relatively clean for having been stored for so long. There is a defect on the top which appears to be adhesive and might be able to be removed by someone familiar with this process; I am not and I left it alone. "Gov't No. 1770".

Though the info plate inside indicates it's intended for 50Hz operation, it is keeping time fine on 60Hz; IDK whether the motor has been replaced or if the original motor is not a typical synchronous AC one.

I inherited this from my father, and the receipt inside indicates my grandfather (Carroll) bought it from Antique Clock Gallery in Long Beach, Calif. in 1977 (he died in Dec1979). My father passed in 2011 and I inherited it in 2017. It was in a box, not in service, and I have kept it in that box for the intervening nine years. I really like the style of this clock, but I've decided that I don't like it so much that it gets space on my mantle, and it's sad that it remains in a box on a shelf.
